BRIEF PROFILE OF
B.Sc (Ibadan), M.Sc (Zaria), Ph.D (Loughborough)
Okoro Ogbobe is a Professor of Polymer & Textile Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Imo State, Nigeria. He is a native of Aku in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Professor Ogbobe obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Degree in Chemistry from the Premier University in Nigeria, the famous University of Ibadan, a Master of Science (M.Sc) Degree in Polymer and Textile Technology of the Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Polymer Technology from Loughborough University of Technology in West Midlands, England. He is a fellow of the Polymer Institute of Nigeria. Professor Ogbobe was a member of the tenth Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). He is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and a member of the eleventh Governing Council of FUTO.
Professor Ogbobe has taught Polymer Science and Technology in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Federal University of Technology, Owerri; Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki; Imo State University, Owerri; Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and Enugu State University, Enugu over the last twenty-nine years.
Professor Ogbobe’s research activities are in the areas of Additives and additives dispersion in Polymers, development of biodegradable corrosion inhibitors, biodegradable Polymer Muds and nanocomposites. He has successfully supervised over fifteen Ph.D students during the course of his career.
Professor Ogbobe is married with three children, Uche, Buko, Jekwu and grandchildren.
