The Public Procurement Research Centre, Federal University of Technology, Owerri was commissioned on 8th October, 2012 by the United Nation Development Programme Country Representative in the presence of the Centre initiator, the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and dignitaries from National Assembly, Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Federal government.

It is envisioned that the PPRC will be the premier academic source for advancing public sector procurement in Africa.

The Mission

To provide the public procurement community quality research, advanced educational opportunities, and continued professional development by advancing theoretical and practical knowledge in public procurement.

 

PPRC Training Workshops

Projects in the public sector commonly face delivery challenges often due to poor procurement procedures and practices. To ensure that procurements are done effectively, efficiently and according to the law, the Centre runs training workshops in partnership with BPP for Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Governments, Service Providers, Contractors and others who are interested procurement best practices. Director, PPRC- Engr. Prof. Gloria Chukwudebe

Gloria Azogini Chukwudebe is a Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). She holds a B.Eng (Hons) and M.Eng degrees in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and a Ph.D in the same field from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.

She has served the University as Head of Department, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, FUTO, 1999 –2005, Director of Computer Centre 2010 – 2011 and Director of ICT, 2011 – 2014. 2006 – 2009, Gloria took her gown to town by serving as an ICT Consultant to Shell Petroleum Dev. Co., Nigeria.

Engr. Prof. G. A. Chukwudebe is a fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers, a fellow of the Nigerian Computer Society, and has also served as a member of the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) 1996-1998. She is also a member, Association of Professional Women Engineering of Nigeria, Chair, Institute of Electric/Electrical Engineers (IEEE), Nigeria sector 2011-2015 as well as Chair, IEEE Africa Area.

Centre Administrator, Mrs Lauretta Patrick-Nwachi

Mrs Lauretta Patrick-Nwachiis the Centre Administrator and Assistant to the Director PPRC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin, Nigeria. Prior to the PPRC Office, she has worked in the Centre for Research and International Development (CRID); aCentre charged with the responsibility to improve Research quality and impact as well as improve Research training in FUTO, as an Assistant to the Director.

She has also worked in the Banking and Finance Industry where she rose through the ranks to the post of a Branch manager of a Commercial Bank.

Mr.  Michael Igara Nmecha has worked at PPRC since 2012. Mr. Michael Igara Nmecha is an adaptable and responsible Staff. He has a clear logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through completion. He holds a B.Eng (Hons) degree in Agricultural Engineering and Masters of Science in Environmental Technology both from the Federal University of Technology Owerri.
