Welcome to the Department of Soil Science and Technology. Our Department has been in existence since it was created out of the former Department of Crop and Soil Science Technology in the 2001/2002 academic session.

Our major objective is to empower students through high quality scientific and technology-based education.

The Department exists to produce high-quality scientific manpower at the graduate and postgraduate levels, equipped to drive the agricultural economy forward. The target is to produce first-rate soil scientists who are confident, independent, efficient, visionary, and innovative through the creation of a conducive study environment, excellent teaching and research efforts which would enable our students to emerge as the best wherever they find themselves.

Our research interest areas include Pedology and soil carbon sequestration (climate change), Land Use and Climate Change, Alternative Soil Fertility Regeneration Technologies, Geostatistics and Spatial Studies in Soils, Chemistry of Polluted Soils and Remediation Technologies.

Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief that our graduates, by their training, would be able to make a positive impact on the society by contributing to driving the agriculture, environment and health sectors of the Nigerian economy forward by leading the way in sustainable food production and improved environmental quality.
