Biography

Professor Jude-Anthony Nnama Ogbulie was born on the 13th of June 1965. He is from Dimagu Isiekenesi Ideato South in Imo State, Nigeria. He started his Primary School education at St. Phillips Primary School, Dimagu, Isiekenesi and passed his First School Leaving Certificate in 1977. He attended Holy Ghost Juniorate Seminary, Ihiala Anambra state and National Secondary School Ntueke, Ideato Imo State from 1978 to 1984 where he successfully passed his West African School Certificate Examination and proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt where he graduated with Second Class Honours in Microbiology in 1988. He served the Nation (National Youth Service Corps – NYSC) in 1988/89 at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. Prof. J. N. Ogbulie enrolled for the Master of Science Degree in Industrial Microbiology in 1989 under the tutelage of Late Prof. C. Ofuya and Dr H. O. Njoku, who supervised his thesis. He graduated as the overall best MSc student in Faculty of Sciences, the University of Port Harcourt in 1990 (Within 12 months). This feat earned him the much cherished and sort-after University of Port Harcourt Port Graduate Scholarship. The scholarship from the university was a dream come true given his insatiable desire for academic growth and excellence; Jude-Anthony clinched on it and registered immediately for a doctorate programme in Environmental Microbiology in 1991/92 under the supervision of Prof. G. C. Okpokwasili. Jude-Anthony obtained the doctorate degree in Microbiology in 1995 and his area of specialization and interest is Environment Biotechnology and Public Microbiology. His major work was on Microbial Ecology of Aquaculture Systems. This lunch him into several studies on Clarias and Tilapia culture systems and related diseases between 1994 to 1997

In 1992, Jude-Anthony started his lecturing career at the then Imo State University, Owerri as an Assistant Lecturer and transferred his services to the Federal University of Technology Owerri where he rose to the rank of a Professor in 2007 after 15 years of hard work and unbroken service.

Professor J. N. Ogbulie has made a huge contribution to University administration since he started his career as an Assistant Lecturer in 1992. He started with the least assignment (course adviser) on an assumption of duty and rose to the peak as the MD of FUTO Consult, Dean, Student’s Affairs. He is currently the Dean of the School of Biological Sciences. Prof. Jude Ogbulie is well known in his community and a renowned Environmental Consultant and towering academic, Prof. J. N. Ogbulie has rendered world-class Environmental Consultant services and other services to corporate bodies, agencies and parastatals.

He was honoured with a Fellows Award by the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) and Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM).  Prof. J.N. Ogbulie is still a committed member of other professional associations like the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM) where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the professional journal ( Nigerian Society for Microbiology Journal) and currently a member of Board of Trusty.  Member, Biotechnological Society of Nigeria (BSN); Member Institute of Safety practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) and Member, Institute of Public Analyst of Nigeria (IPAN) Prof. J.I. Ogbulie has to his credit: 84 journal articles, 13 Chapters, 4 Books and 8 reports He has executed several Environmental Management projects.  He has been honoured as one of the most outstanding Alumni of College of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University of Port Harcourt.

He is married to Dr Toochi OGBULIE and the marriage is blessed with five (5) children.
