Biography

Professor Babington Onyemaechi Esonu is a Professor of Animal Science, distinguished alumnus, active teacher and researcher of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He has so far produced/co-produced 15 M.Sc, 13 PhD and over 100 undergraduate students. He is currently supervising/co-supervising 8 postgraduate students. He has to his credit over 130 scientific publications in National and International journals and has attended 43 National and several international conferences and workshops. Over the years, Professor Esonu has taught 19 courses to about 12000 undergraduates and graduates in the last 17 years, among which are 10 undergraduate ad 9 postgraduate courses in Animal Sciences and other university courses.

And Agric. Tech. Research Interest

My major research area of interest is in the area of Monogastric Animal Nutrition, with a bias in poultry, pigs and rabbit nutrition. In this major area are studies on Nutrient metabolism, alternative or unconventional sources of feedstuffs, digestibility of feed ingredients and utilization of nutrients, inter-relationship and determination of optimal nutrient levels for various classes of monogastric animal feeds.
