Biography

Engr. Dr Lazarus O. Uzoechi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria, presently the Head of Department of Software Engineering FUTO, Deputy Director Center for Energy and Power System Research FUTO since 2017 – 2019, and the Associate Dean of Student Affairs Unit FUTO (2015 – 2017). He is a consummate electrical engineer, passionate and student-oriented teacher, a pragmatic student of leadership and policy formulation, etc. His quest for problem-solving education saw him compete among the best as a doctoral student at Tennessee Technological University (TTU) Cookeville, USA, later earned him a Fellowship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA and attendance to energy policy development seminars at Harvard University, USA. As a result, he has received so many honours and awards both locally and internationally. Dr Uzoechi belongs to the academic pacesetting class having graduated from secondary school as the best student, best graduating power system engineering student at FUTO and received the best student research award during the 2011 Tennessee Technological University Students Research Day. In the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria, he has held positions of class adviser, coordinator for research, examination officer, etc. As a student at Tennessee Technological University, he was involved in volunteer works for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure of Cancer, Dismas House Breakfast for Forgiveness of ex-Convicts, and Mentor for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Dr Uzoechi is married to his beautiful, caring & understanding wife and they are blessed with three lovely children. He likes reading, travelling, networking and making new friends.

In the EEE Department FUTO, he has held positions of Class Adviser, Research Coordinator, Examination Officer, SIWES Coordinator, etc.

Working Experience

Had training in MATLAB/SIMULINK, customized electric power system software packages like PowerWorld Simulator, NEPLAN, MS Office, etc. Trained at the Shell Special Intensive Training Program (SITP/1), Engineering Specialization (Oil & Gas).
