Biography

Dr. Priscilla NkeonyeAbara is a native of UmueneObiangwu in Ngor – Okpalla Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria.  She is an alumnus of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Master’s degree in zoology (with interest in environmental pollution). She further obtained her PhD. Degree in Biotechnology from the Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki. She is also a registered sanitarian.

She was employed as assistant lecturer in 2005 and her professional carrier has witnessed progressive elevations from assistant lecturer to senior lecturer. Dr. Abara has taught and supervised many research works of undergraduate and graduate students in Biotechnology and Biology Departments. She has also attended some training/workshops both in Nigeria and abroad. These includes: One-day professional training course on ecological risk assessment (ERA)  at Calabar, Nigeria (2017); One-day Professional Training course on The Pesticide Risk Assessment for Pollinatorsin Salt Lake City, Utah USA (2015); E-Resource National Leaders Course Training of Trainer and Outreach Center for Africa (ITOCA) held at Bayero University Kano (2010); Genetically and Molecular Biology Approaches, Control and Environmental pollution management in Nigeria held at University of Ibadan (2009) and Molecular marker and their application in Tropical Agriculture for Breeders, Agronomist, Pathologist, Biotechnologist and biometricians held at International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Ibadan (2008).  

Dr. Priscilla Abara has authored books in her discipline and papers from her research work have been published in reputed scientific journals. She is happily married to Mr. Alexander. C. Abara and the union is blessed with six children.
