Biography

Nnamdi C. Iheaturu obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Polymer & Textile Engineering in 1999, M.Sc. Polymer Science& Engineering, 2006, from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, (FUTO), Imo State, Nigeria. He was an Erasmus Mundus Scholar at 3 European Innovative Universities – UA, Portugal, AAU Denmark, and TUHH, Germany 2008 – 2010 where he was jointly awarded the European Masters in Materials Science (EMMS) degree. Having been admitted into the Ph.D program of Postgraduate School, FUTO, he carried out his Ph.D. research work on “Synthesis,Preparation, and Characterization of Nanoporous Core-Shell Clay Epoxy Composites”, while in AAU,Denmark as a Doctoral Research Fellow on study leave in the Department of Mechanical Engineering &Manufacturing, before returning to Nigeria in 2012. In 2016, he concluded his Ph.Dprogram and was awarded a Ph.D in Polymer Science from the Federal University of Technology,Owerri, Imo, Nigeria. While studying in Europe, he was elected Vice President – Europe and becameChair of the European Hub of the FUTO Alumni Association in Diaspora (FAAD), 2009 – 2012. In 2012,he was the only Nigerian selected to attend the 1st Advanced School on Materials for PhotonicApplications: Glasses, Optic Fibers, and Sol-Gel Materials, tagged “1st SAMPA” held at the Sao Paolo State University, (UNESP),Araraquara, Sao Paolo, Brazil. Currently, he is a member of the Department of Polymer & TextileEngineering & School of Engineering Boards of Studies. He is COREN registered and specializes inAdvanced Materials and Polymer Composites.
