Research Interest

Chemical Kinetics (Solution and gas phase), Alternative energy source such as shales, biodegradation of organic waste matter to generate biogas, bioethanol etc.  Electrochemistry, Adsorption studies, Biosorption, computational approaches such as DFT based modelling and simulations. Recycling of materials, Application of sol-gels inhibitors to prevent corrosion, remediation studies.

Corrosion Research Projects

Fundamental research

  • Inhibiting effect of biomass extracts on the corrosion of mild steel and aluminium in different aggressive environments.
  • Inhibiting effect of biochemical compounds on the acid corrosion of mild steel.
  • Corrosion inhibition mechanisms of polycrystalline and nanocrystalline metal specimens (mild steel, pure iron, pure aluminium).
  • Development of corrosion inhibiting additives from biomass extracts, capable of simultaneously controlling uniform, localized and microbial induced corrosion of metals and alloys in aqueous aggressive media.

Adsorption Research Projects

  • Development of adsorbents from underutilized, non-toxic, cheap, readily available materials like biomass, clay etc. for the treatment of effluents such as dyes and chemically toxic substances like phenols, heavy metals etc., from Chemical industries.
  • Construction of a fixed bed column using these adsorbents for the removal of these pollutants from the environment.
  • Designing a packed fixed-bed column that can be used for removal of pollutants from water, soil and air.
