Biography

Seaports are nodal points in maritime transport and logistics chains. Efficient cargo flows cannot be achieved if bottlenecks exist at the nodal points. My research interest in this area is aimed at empirically investigating impediments to trades and trade flows. The end result is the development of frameworks for port management policy. Logistics has taken a centre stage in transport management. Effective goods flow entail much more than physical distribution. There is an aspect involving the management of information and supply chain partners. My research interests here border on assessment and application of management techniques in the optimization of ports and hinterland logistics. Seaborne trade and Maritime transport are inextricably linked. Growth in Maritime/transport activities can only be possible with increasing growth in import/export trade of countries. On the other hand, trade can be hampered by impediments to Maritime transport. Thus accurate prediction of trade growth or otherwise is necessary to assess the demand for Maritime transport. Research into factors affecting trade based on time series econometric analysis is of paramount importance.
