Biography

Dr Victor Odoemelam was born in Ogoja, Cross River State of Nigeria. He had his Primary education at Prisons Model Primary School Gboko, Benue State. He attended St. John’s Boys Day and Gboko High School for his Junior Secondary education in Gboko Benue State and did his Senior Secondary education at Oboro Secondary School, Ikwuano, Abia State.  In the 1998/1999 academic session, he got admission into the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture where he studied Animal Science and obtained B. Agric. (Anim. Sc.) in 2003. He did his National Youth Service in Ile-Ife Osun State and returned to the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike for his M.Sc. and Ph. D programs in Animal Production and Livestock Management. Dr Victor is a recipient of different academic awards. As an undergraduate, he received the Federal Government of Nigeria Undergraduate Scholarship. He was also a recipient of the Innovators of Tomorrow- IOT- STEP-B Research Grant (A World bank assisted Project) for his Postgraduate research. In 2014 he was awarded a Scholarship by Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) to be part of a training on Intensive Dairy Cattle Production. In 2016 he was also a VLIR-UOS Scholar, received a scholarship from the Belgian Development cooperation and Flemish interuniversity council for training in Dairy Nutrition. He has supervised many undergraduate and some Postgraduate projects. In 2020 he was offered a Sabbatical appointment as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Animal Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Dr Victor Odoemelam is married to his heartthrob and their marriage is blessed with two (2) Children-Faith and Chikauchem.
