BIRTH AND NATIVITY

Remy was the 4^th child and 2^nd son of Mr. and Mrs. James Uchendu Nzekwe of Umuobu, Umuezeala Ogwara in Ehime-Mbano L.G.A of Imo State. Remy was born into a Catholic home, and he has kept absolute faith with the teachings and doctrines of this religion till date.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Remy started primary education towards the end of the Nigerian-Biafran war and has been studying since then.  He passed all prescribed examinations at every stage of his career and earned the necessary certificates and degrees which include B.Eng, M.Eng and Ph.D all in Engineering.

EMPLOYMENT RECORDS: From the position of Teaching Assistant at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri in 1992, Remy rose to the rank of Professor in 2013. He is serving the University currently as the Dean, School of Engineering and Engineering Technology and had previously served the same University in different Committees, Boards, Units and Positions including the following: Member of the University Governing Council, Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and Director of Public Procurement Research Centre. Remy also represented the Universities in the South-East Geo-Political Zone in the Governing Board of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS: Remy is a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, [FNSE], a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management [FNIM], Senior Member – Institute of Industrial Engineers, Member, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Member, the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society, Member, Association of Manufacturing Excellence, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA: Remy has served the Federal Government of Nigeria as the Chairman, Presidential Visitation Panel to the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, Technical Board Member of NASENI – Prototype Engineering Development Institute, Ilesha. Chairman, Technical Committee of the Standards Organization of Nigeria [SON] on Road Vehicles: LNG/LPG/CNG conversion kits.

ROTARY CLUB OF OWEERI: Remy served the Rotary club of Owerri as Secretary, Vice President, President Elect, President at different times. He is only one Star Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.

CATHOLIC KNIGHTHOOD: Remy is the Supreme Subordinate President, [No. 1] of the Ancient and Noble Order of Knights of St John International in Nigeria and have served the Order previously as Grand 1^st Vice President, Grand President, Owerri Grand Commandery, District 8 Commander. He has the rank of Major General and a 5^th degree recipient of the Order as Noble.

SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS/HONOUR:  Remy is both a Justice of the Peace, JP of Imo State Judicial Council and a Jerusalem Pilgrim, JP.

RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS: Remy is keenly interested in the management of simple and complex systems of machines, material, and money for optimal production. He is profoundly fascinated in shop floor operations for enhanced productivity. He has published in both local and international journals in this area of knowledge.

MARITAL STATUS: Remy is married to Lady Chidinma Prisca Uche and the marriage is blessed with four children: Dr Chiagoziem Uche, Chimebere John Paul Uche [Engr], Fechi Justa and Chichebem Jane Frances.
