Biography

Onyewuchi, Oyibo Patricia. started her kindagarten/primary education at Our Lady of Lourdes, Ontario, Canada. She finished her primary education at College of Education and Demonstration school,(popularly known as Shell Camp) Owerri, Imo state. From there she proceeded to Federal Government Girls’ College, Bwari, Abuja, where she completed her secondary school education. She gained admission into Abia State University where she bagged a BSc. in Botany. She went ahead to University of Ibadan where she obtained an MSc in Crop protection and Environmental Biology, M.Phil in Plant Ecology and a PhD in Plant Pathology. While she was doing her PhD programme, she got a lecturing job as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Crop Science & Technology at Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo state in 2001. In 2005 she was awarded the Netherlands Fellowship programme where she did an International Training Programme on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for Sustainable 

Agriculture and Food Safety at Wageningen, Netherlands (May 23-July 1,2005) which includes the following  courses;

 (i) Transition to Sustainable Agriculture (May 23–June3,2005)

 (ii) IPM Policy and Institutional Innovations (June 6- 17, 2005)

 (iii)Pesticides and Food Safety in IPM & GAP (Good Agricultural Practices), (June 20-July1,2005)

Below are the following courses she did after she completed her 6 weeks course at Netherlands:

1.       Short course in Advance Organic Agriculture, 1st UNAAB international Summer School programme on Organic Agriculture held at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria, September 13 – 24, 2010.

 

2.  Electronic library resources training workshop on Research4life and TEEAL programmes,  November 15 – 17, 2010 at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

        

2.       Refresher course on Development of seed systems for root and tuber crops to enhance food security held in Kumasi, Ghana, 15-26 October 2012.

She has served as the Head of Department of Crop Science & Technology; Exam Officer, Course Coordinator, Class Academic Adviser, Associate Dean, Acting Dean and currently the Acting Dean, She has published more than 50 journal papers both in international and local journals.

She is from Ngor-Okpala and is happily married to Mr Edward Onyewuchi.
