Biography

Dr Rex Asibuodu Ugulu is a Senior Lecturer and the Acting Head of Department (HOD) for Quantity Surveying Department, School of Environmental Sciences at Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria. He holds a PhD degree in Construction Economics and Management from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. In addition, he finished his Master of Science degree in Construction Management from Imo State University. Furthermore, he holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Quantity Surveying from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu. Dr Ugulu joined the services of FUTO in 2012, where he teaches Quantity Surveying courses and has published over 27 (twenty-seven) papers in reputable journals cutting across construction economics and management, construction productivity and green building materials and also, he has published books to his credit. Prior to joining FUTO, he worked in academia and industry at various capacities; lecturer II at Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro and Quantity Surveyor at Bouygues Construction Nigerian Limited. Dr Ugulu has attended many international conferences. In 2019 he was at Leeds Beckett University, Leeds, United Kingdom, where he presented a paper titled “Relationship Between Labor Productivity and Curved Wall Construction in High-Rise Building Projects”.  In addition, he presented a paper titled on “Impact of Multiple Change and Rework Orders on Construction Tradespeople productivity in Nigeria”, at the 5th CU Construction Conference – Exploring Contemporary Issues and Challenges in the Construction Industry: (CCC2021), Coventry, United Kingdom, 17 March 2021. Dr Ugulu is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), a Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) and a member, Association of Project Management South Africa (APMSA). He is a recipient of Golden Key International Honour’s Society for academic excellences as validated by the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa for outstanding research performance in 2017.
