Biography

Professor Isaac O. Igwe is a Lecturer in the Department of Polymer and Textile Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. He started his teaching career with the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria(defunct Federal University of Technology, Makurdi, Nigeria/University of Jos, Makurdi campus ) in 1985 where he rose from the Rank of Graduate Assistant to Senior Lecturer and Head, Department of Chemistry(2002 – 2003). Prof. Igwe joined the services of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri in 2003 and became the Head, Department of Polymer and Textile Engineering(2012 – 2014). He is actively involved in teaching and research with completed Postgraduate Theses supervision records, M.Sc(13) and PhD (12) (Major Supervisor 6, Co-Supervisor).

Prof. Igwe serves as an External Examiner(Undergraduate/Postgraduate programmes) to some Nigeria Universities and belongs to some learned societies. He has published extensively in both local and international journals and attended many scientific conferences where he delivered well-researched papers ranging in content from applied chemistry to the technology and engineering of polymer materials. An avid reader, Prof. Igwe reviews papers/books to some reputable journal publishers, locally and internationally, and is on the Editorial Board of some journal publishers. He is actively involved in community service activities and his hobbies include gardening, reading newspapers and magazines, writing articles for newspaper publications, and radio commentaries.
