Dr Chinyere Nwufo is a lecturer of the Department of Public Health, School of Health Technology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri. She converted to teaching in 2011. Before now, she was a Deputy Director of Nursing working with the Department of Health Services in the university. She was employed as an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer in 2001 and rose to the rank of Deputy Director of Nursing in 2008 heading different subunits in the Nursing Unit including Family Planning. Dr Chinyere Nwufo is a lecturer with the Department of Public Health, School of Health Technology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri. She converted to teaching in 2011. Dr Chinyere Nwufo had her Primary School Education at St. Mary’s Convent School, Broad Street, Lagos while the West African School Certificate was obtained from Owerri Girls’ Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State. She obtained the Registered Nurse Certificate (RN) from University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu and Registered Midwife Certificate (RM) from University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan. Chinyere Nwufo graduated from the Department of Nursing, the University of Ibadan with Bachelor of Science degree, Second Class (Honours) Upper Division (2:1). She obtained Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Imo State University, Owerri. She had her PhD degree in Public Health (Health Promotion) from the Department of Public Health, School of Health Technology, Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
Dr Chinyere Nwufo has a wealth of experiences having been exposed to both national and international seminars, workshops and conferences on health, public health and health-related matters including Family Planning, HIV/AIDS, Community Based FP Distribution.
She also has both academic and administrative experiences. She has worked as a bedside nurse in different hospitals including Private ones. She worked with Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) which is the Nigerian’s chapter of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) (a multinational international nongovernmental organization) as Program Officer Service Delivery (conceptualizing, writing proposals and implementing projects and writing reports). She also worked as State Manager and Head of Branch of the PPFN administering and managing the State Associations of PPFN at Imo/Abia, Imo and Anambra state at different times for twelve years. She also worked with and headed Society for Women and AIDS in Nigeria (SWAN).
Dr Chinyere Nwufo has taught in different Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Western and Eastern Nigeria at different times too. She is a seasoned Family Planning Service provider and HIV/AIDS, counsellor.
Major research areas include Maternal and Child Health; Family and Sexual Reproductive Health/ Rights; HIV/AIDS; Health Promotion, Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases. She has published extensively in both national and international journals.
Chinyere Nwufo was the Course Advisor of 2011/2012 set of students that graduated in 2016. She had supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students projects.
Dr Chinyere Nwufo is a member of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM); Health Promotion Research Association of Nigeria (HEPRAN); Organization of Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD); Society for Women and AIDS in Nigeria, Imo State (SWAAN) and West African College of Nursing.
Dr Chinyere Nwufo loves cooking, gardening and reading and also loves playing table tennis having won a bronze medal in NUGA games while a student at UI, Ibadan
