Society of Petroleum Engineering (Students Chapter) brings honour to FUTO
SPE FUTO Students Chapter
FUTO Student’s chapter of Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE) achieved a giant stride during this year’s Student Technical Symposium and Exhibition (STSE) 2019 held at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile –Ife. Our students emerged the winners of the prestigious Petro Quiz XVIII competition organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
The FUTO team defeated OAU team, ABUAD team, UNILAG team and UNIUYO team to get the first position. This achievement now qualified SPE FUTO Chapter to represent Sub-Saharan Africa at Canada for the PetroBowl competition scheduled to hold in September 2019.
The award has been presented to the Department of Petroleum Engineering, Dean SEET and FUTO Governing Council. Presenting the trophy to the Dean SEET, the Acting HOD of Petroleum Engineering, Engr. Dr N.C. Izuwa intimated the Dean SEET that the competition was for all SPE student chapters in Nigeria and the Department of Petroleum Engineering, FUTO came top as a result of hard work. While presenting the trophy to the VC, the Dean SEET, Engr. Prof. G.I. Nwandikom also highlighted that the excellent performance of the students was in tandem with the mantra of the current administration of “Driving the culture of excellence”.
Receiving the trophy, the VC, Prof. F.C. Eze commended the students and Department of Petroleum Engineering.
Students who participated in the competition are Ihedilionye Gerald, Obasi Emmanuel C., Obikaonu Agnes C., Ofoegbu Chukwuebuka D. and Okeifufe Nnamdi F.
