Professor F.C. Eze acquired B.Sc. in Physics (Second Class Upper Division) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1980, Masters in Physics and Technology of Amorphous Materials from the University of Dundee, Dundee, Scotland in 1984, PhD in Experimental Solid State Physics and Materials Science from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1995 and Post-Doctoral Fellow at Crystal Growth Centre, Anna University, Madras, India between 1995 and 1996 respectively.

The erudite scholar has had a long academic history that shaped the milestones he has achieved in over 31 years of University Teaching, Research and Administrative experience spread over seven universities both within and outside Nigeria, within which he supervised and examined over 300 research projects at B.Sc. B.Tech, M.Sc. and PhD levels.

Professor F.C. Eze became a Reader in Physics on October 1, 1999, and subsequently rose to the enviable rank of a Professor of Physics on October 1, 2003.

He has served the Federal University of Technology Owerri in several key capacities where his impacts were tremendously felt: Vice-Chancellor 2016 to date; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) 2013-2016; Chairman, Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee 2013-2016; Chairman, Ceremonial Committee 2011-2016; Senate elected member for the 9th Governing Council 2009-2013; Chairman Committee of Deans 2011-2012; Two-term elected Dean, School of Science 2008-2012; Head of Department of Physics 2006-2008;  Pioneer Coordinator SLTTP/Pre-Degree Programme, 2003-2004; Associate Dean, School of Science 2001-2003; Ag. Head, Department of Physics 1996-2000; Coordinator, Science Laboratory Technology Training Programme (SLTTP) 1994-1995;

Moreover, he has also served as Chairman, FUTO Bus Service Management Board 2013-2016; Chairman, School of Postgraduate Committee, 2008-2012; Chairman, School of Science, Examination and Timetable Committee 2000-2003; Member, Board of Directors FUTO Microfinance Bank Limited 2013-2016; Member, Board of Directors, FUTO Water Limited 2013-2016; Member, Board of Directors, FUTO Bookshop Limited, 2013-2016; Member, Board of Directors, FUTO Guest House Limited 2013-2016; Member, Board of Directors, FUTO Consult Limited, 2013-2016; Chairman, School of Science Appraisal Committee, 2008-2012 and Member, Honourary Degree Committee 2012-2016.

The renowned Professor is very active in quality research in experimental solid state physics and materials science, thin solid films, renewable energy and corrosion inhibition using local herbs extracts. These availed him the opportunity to access grants from FUTO, World Bank, TETFUND, ABDUS SALAM International Centre for Theoretical Physics, COSTED, ICSU for research in condensed matter physics and corrosion inhibition.

Professor Eze has to his credit over 41 quality publications and has attended more than 46 national and international scientific conferences and workshops. He has served as a consultant to the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) Technical Committee and was also part of the technical committee on developing curricula for postgraduate training in nuclear science and engineering sponsored by NAEC. Again, Prof. Eze served as a physics consultant to Singaporean writing team on producing an ICT-illustrated Physics textbook – The New System Physics. He is responsible for the enrolment of the School of Science FUTO as a member of the African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI).

Professionally, He is a fellow of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (FSESN), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (FNIP), Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria (FIIAN). A member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a member of the American Physical Society and a member of the Institute of Physics (London)

A widely travelled academic, Professor Eze has lived in the United Kingdom and India respectively and visited United States, Germany, Canada, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, United Arab Emirate, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa etc.

He enjoys reading, writing, sports analysis - particularly soccer.

Professor F. C. Eze was born on October 13, 1956, and is a native of Amanator/Ogboza in Ideato South LGA, Imo State, Nigeria. He is happily married to Dr. (Mrs.) Egejuru Eze and the marriage is blessed with children.

5.    Professor Eze has been a Distinguished Professor of Physics at the School of Physical Sciences (formerly part of School of Science), Federal University of Technology, Owerri since 1st October, 2003. He has served as a two-term elected Dean, School of Science – defeated an incumbent Dean for the first time in the history of FUTO.

6.    Professor Eze has over 31 years of University Teaching, Research and Administrative experience spread over seven universities both within and outside Nigeria within which time he supervised and examined over 300 research projects at B.Sc/B.Tech, M.Sc. and PhD levels. Furthermore, he was instrumental in widening access while at the same time maintaining and improving academic excellence for which the Department of Physics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri is known.

7.    Professor Eze is very active in quality research in Experiential Solid State Physics and Materials Science, Thin solid films, renewable energy and corrosion inhibition using local herb extracts. He has consequently received grants from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, World Bank, TETFUND, ABDUS SALAM International Centre for Theoretical Physics, COSTED, ICSU for research in condensed matter physics and corrosion inhibition.

13.  As Dean of the School of science Professor Eze set up a committee to produce a software for the computation of students results. Later he organized a seminar for the staff of the school where the software RSS was subjected to rigorous test-runs.  Today the software has been adopted by the entire University for the computation of students results.

14.  Professor Eze in 2009 was also responsible for the enrolment of the School of Science as a member of the African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI) with full complements of the benefits of members. Today FUTO is a full-fledged member of ANSTI.

15.  He has also facilitated the award of Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to two members of staff of the Physics Department, FUTO.

16.  He was a Council member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics and the Nigerian Physics Writers Creation.

17.  He was a two-term elected Editor-in-Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Physics 2008-2012.

18.  He was a two-term elected Chairman, Physics Writer Creation 2010-2014.

19.  Professor Eze is a fellow of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (FSESN), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (FNIP), Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria (FIIAN). A member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a member of the American Physical Society and a member of the Institute of Physics (London).

20.  He holds the traditional title of Awele of Amanator, a chieftaincy title conferred on him by the traditional ruler of his community in 2001 in recognition of Professor Eze’s contributions to the upliftment of his community.
