Departments of Project Management and Agricultural Bio-Resources Engineering Lock Horns as VC's Football Cup Competition Kicks Off

It was a stiff competition as departments of Project Management and Agricultural/Bio-Resources slogged it out in the opening match to kick start the 2019 Vice-Chancellor’s Football Cup Competition among the different schools in Federal University of Technology, Owerri on Friday, August 30, 2019, attracted a lot of mammoth crowds. The football match which was played at the football pitch ended with a goalless draw among the teams.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Francis Chukwuemeka Eze performed the football kick-off to mark the formal commencement of the competition while commending the players for their active participation and enumerated the importance of sporting activities which includes improvement of physical, mental and psychological well being of the individual. He noted that talents that abound in the University could be discovered through this football competition.
He thanked the Director of Sports and Students Union Government of FUTO for organizing the football competition.
On his part, the Director of Sports, Federal University of Technology, Owerri Mr Dominic Obichere thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the management team for finding time to be with them despite their tight schedules as he described the Vice-Chancellor as a lover of sports. The Red Cross group were fully stationed in the field to discharge their duties.
The match was well attended by the DVC Academic, Prof. N.J. Okeudo, DVC Administration, Prof. J.S. Orebiyi, the Registrar, Mr J.U. Nnabuihe, the Bursar, Mrs Helen Onuoha represented by the Deputy Bursar, Final Account, Mr D.O. Amatobi, University Librarian, Dr Mrs Chinwe V. Anunobi represented by Dr Mrs G.C. Umunnakwe, FUTOWA President and Director FUTO Farms Ltd, Dr Mrs Egejuru Eze, Dean Student Affairs Prof. C.E. Orji, Director of Sports Obichere Dominic, SUG President Comrade Chigozie Samuel and others.
