Engr. Prof. (Mrs) Gloria Chukwudebe has been applauded for attracting research grant worth Twenty thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty-One dollars ($20,761 USD) from the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE). Humanitarian Activities Committee (IEEE HAC).
According to the source, the grant is for the establishment of IEEE skill-up technology hubs in Nigerian universities. The skill-up training will involve the provision of hands-on training workshops for industry-based products such as; networking designs, software product design, mobile robotics programming, ICT skills for smart grid technologies, cybersecurity and network/database administration, computer hardware maintenance/cloning and leadership/entrepreneurship training among others.
The pilot plan of the IEEE HAC introduced in two faces include; Federal University of Technology, Owerri South-East, as phase 1 with selected host communities (Eziobodo, Obinze and Ihiagwa). Also included in the pilot plan is Nasarawa State University, North Central Zone, with selected host communities as Keffi and Laffia for phase 2.
Prof. Chukwudebe who got the commendation is also the Dean, School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT).
