IHE DELFT to Partner FUTO for MSc Programme Transfer

A delegation from the International Institute for Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering (IHE) Delft, Netherlands, the largest international graduate water education facility in the world, met with Management on Friday, February 8 2019, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room for collaboration and transfer of her M.Sc Programme in Sanitation, related Diploma Programmes and short courses to the Federal University of Technology Owerri and her partner Universities.

Speaking at the meeting, Professors Amadou Hama Maiga and Christine Maria Hooijmans who represented the Institute in sub-Saharan Africa, said the Institute is instrumental to the strengthening of efforts by other Universities and research centres in increasing knowledge and skills of professionals in the water sector.

The team expressed happiness in partnering with FUTO which is one in the ten centres chosen for Sub Saharan Arica. They stated that the visit is for monitoring and evaluation and will include a debriefing with top Management of the Institution and project team to discuss possible weaknesses and potential risks and ways to address and mitigate them.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Prof. N. J Okeudo, who represented the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Francis Chukwuemeka Eze expressed joy at the visit and said the university is prepared to partner and collaborate with the institute and assured them of all the support they would require.

Representatives of the project partners present at the event were Mr Andy A. Ukah from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria, (EHORECON), Mrs Stella Muse of the  National Environmental  Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Dr (Mrs) O. A. Mokuolu, University of Ilorin and  Engr. Prof. C. C. Nnaji from the University of Nigeria Nsukka amongst others.
