NIM South-East Synergises with FUTO to Promote Management Best Practice
The Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM, (Chartered), South-East Zone has sought collaboration with FUTO to promote management best practice
The South-East Zone of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) has expressed interest in synergising with the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) to strengthen management capacity, professional development and leadership practice in the University and the wider South-East region.
The proposal was presented on Monday, August 3, 2026 when the Institute's South-East Zone delegation, led by its Chairman, Prof. Jude E. Njoku, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.N.S. Dozie.
Prof. Njoku said the engagement was part of the Institute's strategic outreach to key institutions in the region, and an opportunity to explore areas of mutual interest with FUTO.
He said NIM (Chartered) was committed to promoting professionalism, ethical leadership, and capacity development in management, adding that stronger partnerships with tertiary institutions would help develop competent managers and leaders for sustainable development.
The delegation highlighted potential areas of partnership with FUTO, including management training, professional development programmes for staff, joint seminars and workshops, research and knowledge exchange, as well as executive development initiatives.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dozie welcomed the delegation and commended NIM (Chartered) for its contribution to professional management development and national growth. He noted that effective management was essential to institutional success, particularly in a rapidly changing environment, and expressed FUTO's readiness to explore mutually beneficial areas of collaboration with the Institute.
He said partnerships that promote capacity building, leadership, innovation, and institutional excellence were consistent with the University's development objectives, and could provide staff and students with greater exposure to contemporary management practices.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Chika C. Ogueke; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Development and Innovation), Prof. E. B. Etuk; Bursar, Mrs Ebere Nwadike; University Librarian, Dr Mrs Justina N. Ekere; Chairman, NIM (Chartered), FUTO Chapter, Mrs Nnenna Oguoma, as well as other Fellows and members of the Institute.
