Signal Alliance Technology Holding (SATH), via its nonprofit arm — the SATH Foundation — has formalized a partnership with the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) to establish a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experience Center on the FUTO campus. This new initiative is focused on promoting AI education, research, and hands-on innovation in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Highlights of the MoU Signing

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed at FUTO on April 30, 2025, with both institutions represented. FUTO was represented by Professor Emeka Oguzie, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, while the SATH delegation was led by Mr. Collins Onuegbu, Chairman of SATH, alongside Ugbonma Grace Ekeagbara, Corporate Social Responsibility Executive.

About the AI Experience Center

Scheduled to open in July 2025, the center aims to:

  • Advance academic excellence in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Offer faculty and students access to cutting-edge AI tools and resources.
  • Promote adaptive learning and research-driven innovation.
  • Reinforce FUTO’s position as a leader in advanced technology education.

"This initiative underscores our long-term goal to enhance tech access in Nigerian education," said Collins Onuegbu, Chairman of SATH. "Through this center, students will gain the practical skills needed to leverage AI for solving real-life challenges."

A Growing Partnership

This new venture builds upon a five-year collaboration between SATH and FUTO, particularly through an entrepreneurship development program executed by DevEast. The alliance continues to promote innovation, enterprise development, and digital skills among students.

"FUTO is committed to aligning its curriculum with emerging technologies," said Prof. Emeka Oguzie. "This partnership enables our students and faculty to engage directly with transformative tools and concepts."

The center will offer project-based training and real-world applications in AI, reinforcing SATH’s broader mission to support digital literacy and capacity-building across African academic institutions.
