FUTO Vice-Chancellor’s Wife Honoured with Golden Award

INSTITUTE OF POLYMER ENGINEERS HONOURS VICE-CHANCELLOR’S WIFE WITH GOLDEN AWARD

It was a colourful event at which the Institute of Polymer Engineers in line with a popular saying, “give honour to whom it is due”, honoured the wife of the Vice-Chancellor of FUTO, who is also the Director, FUTO Farms Limited and the President of FUTO Women Association, FUTOWA, Dr. (Mrs) Egejuru Eze with a Golden Award of the Institute. By this award, she was admitted into the Council of Fellows of the Institute at the Annual Dinner Awards and Fellowship Conferment of the Institute on Friday, August 9, 2019, at G-Tower Hotel, Owerri.

In a welcome address by Engr. Prof. I.C. Madufor, the National Chairman, Institute of Polymer Engineers, he stated that Dr. (Mrs) Egejuru Eze remains the anchorwoman when Waste Management Project of the University is   mentioned, adding that her interest in a clean environment and polymeric waste management endeared her to the Department of Polymer and Textile Engineering.

Speaking further, he stated that Dr. (Mrs) Eze brought to bear her wealth of international and local experience in agricultural practices resulting in large scale commercial production of crops and livestock in FUTO. Her effort has helped the University in converting vast forest land into aesthetically appealing plantations of timber, palm, plantain, banana, orchards of pineapples and oranges as well as endless plots of cassava farms. She has drastically raised the stock of FUTO Farms and increased the Internally-Generated Revenue of the University. These and many more were the reasons he gave that necessitated the Golden Award and honour on her.

In her speech, Dr. (Mrs) Egejuru Eze who was represented by Dr. (Mrs) Geraldine Okeudo expressed gratitude to God and also commended the Institute for the honour describing the award as symbolic and prestigious. She said she was humbled by the award and pledged to partner with the Institute to take the University to an enviable height and also thanked the Executive Committee Members of the Institute who worked tenaciously to ensure a seamless event. She made a cash donation of One Hundred Thousand Naira to the Institute.

Present at the dinner award were Engr, Prof. Mrs K.B. Oyoh, Engr. Cletus Ekpo.
