Welcome Message.
Welcome to the Department of Environmental Management (EVM). The department hosts teaching and research programmes in Pollution control Technology, Erosion and Flood control Technology and Geo-Environmental Technology. These programmes are broadly integrated through a strategic focus on natural environment, where we aim at advancing the understanding of fundamental processes, and of the linkages between different components of the environment (air, land, water and life). The range of research topics covered within the department and in collaboration with other research centers and universities is very broad, and reflects the diversity in the research interests of our staff.
As an accredited department, we offer programmes of high academic standard that are also relevant to the dynamic and changing world environment. In order to maintain our standards, we are regularly accredited by the Universities’ regulatory body, the National Universities Commission (NUC). Our quality of training is evident through the employability rating of our alumni working in both the private and public sectors across the world.
To our students/intending students, may these words of the very respected global icon, Nelson Mandela be your watchword: “Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that a son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation.” Therefore, do not despair. The department is poised to inculcate, in you, the ideal values needed to compete favorable in the global society.
To you visiting EVM homepage for collaborations, we welcome you with open arms. We urge you to navigate through the departmental page and explore the profiles of our multidisciplinary staff strength for your diverse and collaborative engagements. The department is poised to work harmoniously with you in actualizing your aspirations. Therefore, do not hesitate to make that move.
Once again, a warm welcome to Environmental Management (EVM) Department.
