The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) has been recognised among the Top 100 Most Integrity-Compliant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The University received the recognition at the maiden edition of the “Pillars of Integrity in Public Service Awards 2026” organised by Verbatim News Networks Limited, publishers of Verbatim News Magazine, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, on September 29, 2026.

Receiving the institutional award on behalf of FUTO, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.N.S. Dozie, also received the “Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award”, presented in recognition of his leadership in public service.

Presenting the awards, the Editor-in-Chief of Verbatim News, Tobs Agbaegbu said Prof. Dozie had, within a short period since assumption of office, “marshalled out policies that are in furtherance of the culture of integrity that exists at FUTO."

The awards presentation also featured the unveiling of “Verbatim 100 Most Integrity Compliant MDAs And Their CEOs”, a special editorial profiling of the award recipients derived from the ICPC Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) 2025.

According to Agbaegbu, the publication “is intended not merely as a celebration of performance, but as an invitation to sustained institutional improvement and a national conversation about standards required for a more accountable public service”.

The recognition comes as FUTO continues to strengthen its institutional governance framework under the administration of Prof. Dozie, with emphasis on due process, accountability, transparency, and responsible management of public resources.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied to the ceremony by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Prof. Remy Uche; the Registrar, Mr Chiedozie Uba; and the University Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Justina N. Ekere.
