The FUTO Women Association (FUTOWA) has honoured two of its former Presidents, Prof. Mrs. Viola Adaku Onwuliri and Dr. Mrs. Egejuru Eze, in a series of visits aimed at celebrating their contributions to the growth and development of the Association.

Through the visits led by the current President of FUTOWA, Dr. Mrs. Chinomso Patricia Dozie, the Association reconnected with its past leadership, acknowledged their contributions, and drew on their experiences as FUTOWA continues to evolve.

The first visit was to Prof. Mrs. Onwuliri at her residence on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. A former Minister of State for Education and Foreign Affairs, Prof. Mrs. Onwuliri served as FUTOWA President from 2006 to 2011 and was credited with helping to transform the Association from a staff welfare group into a broader platform for women’s empowerment, community service, and leadership.

The FUTOWA delegation expressed appreciation for her pioneering contributions and the foundation she laid for subsequent administrations. The visit featured prayers, reflections, and recollections of her years of service.

On Monday, September 14, the Association visited another former President, Dr. Mrs. Egejuru Eze, who led FUTOWA from 2016 to 2021, as well as served as the Managing Director of FUTO Farms Ltd.

The Association lauded Dr Mrs Eze's strides in community outreach, women’s empowerment, environmental advocacy, and the general wellbeing of women. Her administration was also lauded for strengthening FUTOWA’s engagement with communities beyond the University.

Dr. Mrs. Eze received the delegation and shared reflections on her years of service, including the experiences, achievements, and milestones recorded during her tenure.

The visits form part of FUTOWA’s recognition of the value of institutional memory and continuity, while celebrating the leadership and service of women who have contributed to the Association’s development over the years.
