Biography

Dr. Ihejirika is a Senior Lecturer and an environmental health and pollution control consultant in the Department of Environmental Management, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D) in Environmental Microbiology, a Master of Science degree (M.Sc) in Environmental Health Biology and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Biological Science (Microbiology option) all from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. His expertise includes Environmental Health, Environmental Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Bioremediation, Pollution Control, Climate and Environmental Impact Assessment, Needs Assessment, Environmental Monitoring, Waste management, Industrial Safety and Occupational Health. Additionally, he has written more than sixty (60) published scholarly scientific articles in the fields of environmental pollution, environmental monitoring and assessment, environmental resources management, sustainable development, public health and safety. He has also on invitation, presented scholarly papers at conferences both locally and internationally. Dr Ihejirika is a member of some learned societies including; Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria, Nigerian Society for Microbiology, American Society for Microbiology, Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria, Nigerian Environmental Society and Society of Environmental Health of Nigeria.

He is presently a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Management, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria. He has strong research interest in Environmental Biotechnology and Pollution Control.

Dr. Ihejirika is involved in many community services at his place of birth; place of worship and as the Chairperson of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), FUTO Branch.  He loves playing volleyball, reading, traveling, and listening to news.

Dr. Chinedu Ihejirika is happily married to Dr. (Mrs.) Nachi Ihejirika also of FUTO and their union is blessed with four children.
