Biography

Engr. Dr. Nkwachukwu Chukwuchekwa is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria. At present, he is being assessed for the position of a full Professor. He is the Associate Dean of the School of Electrical Systems Engineering Technology (SESET), FUTO from May 2021 till date and the Acting Head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, FUTO from July 2021 till date.

He was Departmental Postgraduate Cordinator from July 2016 to June 2021 where he mentored PG students and cordinated research leading to the award of PhD, M. Eng and PGD degrees. He was a Post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) USA in the Spring Semester of 2014 sponsored by Total E&P, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Google and MIT. 

He got his PhD from Cardiff University, United Kingdom in 2012 in Electrical Engineering using the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) scholarship from United Kingdom. Nkwachukwu obtained his B. Eng and M.Eng degrees in Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Communications Engineering (COE) respectively from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria in 2000 and 2006.

 

 He has authored and co-authored over 60 research articles and presented papers at reputable international conferences in United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, Poland etc. He has successfully supervised and  co-supervised  7 PhD and 18 M. Eng students as well as numerous undergraduate and PGD students. Nkwachukwu is a member of many professional bodies and a reviewer to many reputable technical journals both in Nigeria and abroad. Nkwachukwu enjoys playing football, reading, Internet browsing, prayer and evangelism.
