Biography

I was born into the family of Pa Ikwuo Ekpe Aku (late) and Ma Ogbogho Akanu Nnachi of Eziukwu hamlet in Amogbu Village, Ekoli Community, Afikpo South Local government Area of Ebonyi Sate during the second quarter of 1970. My parents were both of the royal dynasty of Igbo Eze. My pioneer quest for Education took me through Egbebu central school, Ekoli to Umuogele Primary School Aba and back to Community Primary school Ekoli Edda. I acquired Secondary Education from Secondary Technical School, Ekoli Edda from where I  served  as a School Water Prefect and in due time graduated in flying colours. Later having met all the conditions for higher education, { was admitted into the prestigious Federal University of Technology Owerri from where I graduated with a B.Agric.Tech Hons. (Crop production Technology) in 1997. I  was the valedictorian of 1999 Corp members in Zamfara State where I did my NYSC primary assignment at the Gumi Unity Secondary, Gumi, Zamfara State . On my discharge from NYSC, I resumed studies and obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Soil Physics and Engineering, from Usmanu Danfodioyo University, Sokoto in 2002 and a doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Soil and Water management, from Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki in 2011.  Having student in three different Universities in three different corners of Nigeria I became an example of a hybrid academic.  I started my academic carrier as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Soil and Environmental Management, Ebonyi State University Abakaliki in July. 2002. I rose through the ranks to be regrded to lecturer II in 2003, promoted to Lecturer I in 2006 and further promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2009. Ijoined the professorial Cadre in October 1, 2012 and I was promoted to full professor in oct 1, 2016

As a dedicated academic, I have well over 80 International and Local Journal articles Co-authored a number of text books published in Nigeria and Europe and a number of conference papers. I have attended and successfully presented research papers in Switzerland, France, Germany and in Boston, USA. I am a registered soil scientist (RSS), an Ambassador of Peace of the Global Peace Chain, Pakistan. I am a fellow of the Human Resource Development (FHRD), Fellow of the Centre for Agricultural Research and Extension (FCARE).  I am a member of soil science society of Nigeria, Agricultural society of Nigeria, International Union of Soil Science (IUSS), Agronomy Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America, severally, Departmental coordinators of Postgraduate Studies, Departmental Research and Human Resource Development Coordinator. I have supervised and graduated 4 PhD candidates, with 6 PhD candidates on course, several M.Sc students and over 90 undergraduate students.  I am married to my amiable wife and the bliss is blessed with three children. In the traditional setting I was bestowed with the tittle Chief Ugonmuta of Akparata Ancient Kingdom, and currently CHIEF IFE BU UZO of UMUNNA AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY, EDDA, AFIKPO SOUTH, EBONYI STATE, NIGERIA. Presently, a JP of the State of Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan. I am  a human Dung specialist, using Human dung and irrigation to conserve the soil while producing  arable and plantation crops in degraded soils of the South Eastern Nigeria.

My next of Kin is Mrs Agatha Elem Ekpe, my wife and she can be reached 08073128036
