The role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in advancing the economy of the world cannot be over emphasized. Undoubtedly, the ICT world drives a greater percentage of the day-to-day activities of the global space. Resultantly, the study of Information and Communication Technologies is manifesting and evolving as several subject areas, courses and disciplines.
Euphorically, I welcome you to the School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT), FUTO which was established on August 30, 2018. The school took off with two existing Departments, namely, the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Information Technology. The young School later added two additional Departments, namely, Cyber Security and Software Engineering which first admitted students during the 2019/2020 academic session respectively.

Mission of the School
To provide the requisite administrative leadership and framework for the departments in the School to be able to achieve excellence in teaching and learning for the production of highly skilled graduates in the fast rising ICT field. Additionally, to promote research activities and innovation culture for solving national and global problems through workshops, conferences, seminars, symposia, and collaboration with relevant industry partners.
The first Dean of the School was Engr. Prof. (Mrs.) Gloria A. Chukwudebe. The present Dean, Prof. (Mrs.) U. F. Eze is the second Dean of the School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT).

Accreditation Status of the Departments in SICT
The Department of Computer Science during the 2021 National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise got Full Accreditation. The Departments of Information Technology, Cyber Security, and Software Engineering all successfully passed the 2020 Resource Verification Exercise and will soon be facing the NUC accreditation before the end of 2023.
The Department of Computer Science, and Information Technology respectively have moved into their newly completed and well-furnished and equipped buildings which was handed over to the school by our amiable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) N. N. oti at a ceremony held on Friday, March 24, 2023. The Cyber Security Department building is also at its completion stage and all the buildings are equipped with state of the act equipment.
